"In his impressionistic, figurative painting, he thematizes everyday life, with the painterly exploitation of personal presence in the depicted locations. It is as if his goal was "an authentic re-creation of the formal language of figurative painting that has fallen to pieces", as he formulated in 2006, speaking of Tibor Csernus. The paintings in our exhibition offer a contemporary reinterpretation of outdoor, sunlight, or plein air painting without idyll, in the tension of today's life." – Miklós Sulyok, art historian
"Approximately sixteen years ago, I put aside the etching needle and started painting. Since then, I have been working on a continuously developing, long-term cycle, which I like to call the "following my missing time" series. These works are part of my personal visual diary. A set of seemingly unordered images, from Paris to Budapest, from the studio of Tibor Csernus to the asphalt road leading to my parents. Jobbára city skylines, street details, interiors, studio details and portraits make up his material. They are all places or people that have somehow played an important role in my life so far, but I hope that, beyond their individual history, they give an interesting impression of the beginning of the twenty-first century in a personal way."
