"The metaphysics of ordinary life, the philosophy of popular existence, if you like, the confusion of the taste system of the masses affects the ordinary viewer, sometimes randomly, sometimes directly causing confusion. At the same time, it provokes a pleasantly tingling or irritating effect even in a well-versed observer of art. I think the visceral resistance of cultivated minds while accepting the content of my pictures is very conceivable, since I introduce basic kitsch taboos and theses into my pictures, testing their patience, even though if they took the trouble, maybe they would forgive me and the objects, reconsider the outdated truth content of their ingrained philosophy." ISTVÁN NYÁRI is a Munkácsy award-winning painter who graduated from the Hungarian College of Applied Arts in advertising graphics in 1977, and has been working in visual arts since 1978. He lived in New York from 1985 to 1990, in addition to Budapest, he also works in Brussels between 2005 and 2007, and in London since 2007. He exhibited for the first time in 1976 at the Club of Young Artists, and most recently at the kArton Gallery in 2016. In addition to his solo exhibitions, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions at home, in the United States, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Spain and Switzerland, and his works can be found in several domestic public collections. His art has been continuously published since 1994 - in addition to recognized domestic experts, he has also been written about in Switzerland and Spain, and in 2013, one of the most popular online art magazines in the United States, Juxtapoz, published a lengthy article on him, illustrated with pictures. Summer sympathizes with the Lowbrow movement, but basically considers himself an outsider pop-surrealist.
