"In the conception and implementation of my sculptures, I strive to ensure that each work radiates inner calm and silence. A silence that speaks to the innermost sphere of the human soul. I could mostly relate this approach to a musical parallel, when the "silence" created as a result of a pause between two notes or melodies is of particular importance to the piece as a whole. An indispensable part of the powerful expression of audible music is a short "silent silence", where there is no audible sound, yet something is created, something happens that is "not there", and yet it is present." – Tamás Gilly

"For Tamás Gilly, immersion in work also manifests itself in a kind of desire to create order. This comes from the structure of the intention and it is not a question of walking around a place for one's own purposes, but through his sculptures we can come face to face with the freedom that comes from order. Tamás Gilly's sculptures and graphics, which lead into spaces that are open to the eye, or with slits in some cases, are about space, the shaping force, and being shaped. The space around the sculptures and captured by their open space can sometimes be coded as a known, perceived known, or foreign sign, while we may not even be able to decide whether we see the absence, or the heavy iron object, the body of the vessel-like forms, or the space surrounded by the body or concentrated within it. The sophisticated order of proportions of the sculptures can result in this wavering of consciousness. The spiritual space into which we meet the creator through a sculpture is the essence of the sculpture. In the sculptures of Tamás Gilly, this essence is not hidden, but revealed, his sculptures, in addition to the material and form, invite us to experience this essence with a thematically enhanced display of being in space." – Péter Gálhidy, sculptor
